Our studio's philosophy is based on the simple principles of structure, discipline, encouragement and inspiration. PYB is proud to follow the ABT National Training Curriculum for all ballet students Pre-primary through Level 5. The ABT® National Training Curriculum aims to assist beginning through advanced teachers in training dance students to use their bodies correctly, focusing on kinetics and
coordination, as well as anatomy and proper body alignment. Artistically, the ABT® National Training Curriculum strives to provide dance students with a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance. Patuxent Youth Ballet was formed to allow a more family-friendly oriented ballet experience open to boys and girls of all ages without discrimination. All students of Patuxent Youth Ballet are focused on what they want to accomplish during their dancing career, setting goals for themselves as they progress in their dancing and performing ability. The students are divided into levels by the instructors of Patuxent Youth Ballet that depend on the student's dancing ability, what or if the student had ever had any training at all, the form of dance that the student is most interested in, and the age level of the student. Those factors lead the instructors to place the students into classes that are the best for their level and where the student would feel most comfortable. Unlike many of the ballet studios found throughout Maryland, Patuxent Youth Ballet is not competition oriented, but rather they focus on bringing out the inner star of every student and allowing fair chance to all students. Mesa has never found it of importance to search out the very best student of her ballet school and to only place the best as the lead.
