Rewind ⬅️AVID Spirit Week was full of FUN, school spirit, and collaboration! From exciting dress-up days to students in Ms. Palmer’s class teaming up with their AVID Study Buddies to review and grade their agendas using the provided rubric, Eagles across our campus practiced organization, accountability, collaboration, and reflection, all while supporting one another!

We’re proud to announce that W.A. Perry Middle School has been recognized as a 2026 Nationally Certified Demonstration Magnet School for the BLAST Aerospace Program! Not only are we certified, but we are also a Demonstration School, which is the Top Tier for Magnet programs across the country. Demonstration Schools serve as a national model that other programs can visit, study, and replicate. This prestigious distinction recognizes our commitment to excellence and our role as a model for innovative, high-quality magnet education. This achievement belongs to our entire school community! We’re proud of our students, staff, families, and partners whose dedication helps make our school a national model for magnet education. A special shoutout to Dr. Teresa Turner, Grant Project Director, Mrs. Karen Ogen, STEM Consultant, Mrs. House, district grant assistant, Mrs. Ebony Lampkin, and Ms. Ginger Spencer, BLAST teachers, Mrs. Lisa Payton-Johnson, and Mrs. Camelia Brown, for their passion and leadership in making this possible! Our 7th-grade Eagles are using Draw and Drive programs to move along the number line while strengthening their understanding of integers. Meanwhile, our 8th-grade Eagles are programming robots to rotate 90°, 180°, and 270° about a point! From number lines to robotics, our students are connecting math, technology, and problem-solving through hands-on learning. Way to think, create, collaborate, and innovate, Eagles!
