Next week is Show Me Research Week at Mizzou!

Join us April 20–24 as we celebrate student research, creativity, and discovery. Our students will be presenting their work through poster and oral presentations on Monday and Tuesday in Rooms N201, N204, and N214, Memorial Union North.

Our department is offering a summer archaeology field school in partnership with the Missouri State Parks. It is designed to be a low-cost, high-quality opportunity for students interested in learning about Missouri archaeology and archaeological field methods. The Department of Anthropology is proud to announce that associate professor Karthik Panchanathan was awarded the 2026 Kemper Fellowship for teaching Excellence. Karthik's commitment and passion for his craft make this prestigious award well-earned, and we congratulate him on this exemplary achievement.

On this Veterans Day, the Mizzou Department of Anthropology pauses to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication embody the very human stories of resilience, community, and duty that we study and teach every day.

Drs. Alejandro Figueroa, Chris and Todd VanPool, Whitney Goodwin (MURR Research Scientist) and Justin Bensley (state park archaeologist and Mizzou grad student) rocked at Graham Cave yesterday. What a good time! Over 100 attendees joined us, exploring Missouri's past and the cave's history hands-on! Archaeology month isn't over.
