Columbia's only University-Model® School Two distinctive features set Heritage Academy apart from other schooling options you may be considering.
Our purpose is to help parents send out educated servants of Jesus Christ by blending the best of home with the best of college-preparatory education. Let me briefly describe these characteristics. Heritage Academy is a Christian school. Above all, the desire of Heritage Academy and each of our families is to bring glory to God in His Son, Jesus Christ. While the school is autonomous, and not affi
liated with any denomination, it is the aim of our hearts and the purpose of our programs for Christ to be made manifest in the lives of our faculty, our staff, and our families. We strive for educational excellence in a Christian context. Heritage Academy is a University-Model School®. The University Model provides a unique approach to education that partners teachers and parents to teach students. Students attend classes on campus 1-3 days per week, benefitting from professional instruction and the classroom learning community. On alternate school days, they are at home completing assigned coursework under the guidance and supervision of a parent. Compared to traditional schooling options, this model requires an unusually high level of parental involvement in each student’s academic progress. Yet this opportunity for increased relational involvement with their students is the gift that University-Model schooling offers to parents who are eager to walk along side their students during some of the most formative years of their lives. The days students work at home provide increased opportunities for parents to strengthen family relationships, cultivate character, nurture faith, and impart the values they hold dear.
