Asbury Preschool and Kindergarten, established in 1962, complies with all standards put forth by the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The KPAC is comprised of the School Director and Associate Director, two members of the staff and several parents-all selected by the Kindergarten Staff. The learning activities are geared to the children's development readiness and needs. Activities and learning opportunities are sequential and challenging. The following are subject area guidelines for three and four-year old children: Language Arts-Listening, Speaking, Writing; Social Studies-History, Environment, Our World-Nation, State, community; Expressive Arts-Visual Arts, Movement and Dance, Music; Science-Life Science, Physical Science; Math-Patterning, Sequence
The curriculum for Two's is based upon the child's need to become independent, acquire social skills, develop language, and learn through sensori-motor activities. Children are supported in handling toileting, eating, and dressing independently. Teachers of the 2's, 3's, and 4's use the Creative Curriculum, Handwriting Without Tears, and also curriculum based on Christian principles. These Curricula provides appropriate learning experience for the children. In addition to Christian curriculum and the Handwriting Without Tears, our Kindergarten program uses the Starfall Curriculum and Bridges in Mathematics.
