The Atelier School of Creative Learning

The Atelier School of Creative Learning A school of creative learning focusing on arts integration through Reggio Emilia and Montessori inspiration.

Our Primary School campus serves toddler and pre-k students. The Atelier School of Creative Learning is inspired by the Reggio-Emilia educational philosophy. We have two locations including our Primary School (Toddler and Pre-K) and our Elementary & Middle School (Grades JK-8). We embrace a holistic view of learning and emphasize process rather than product. We believe in a child-led curriculum, i

n which children are active participants in their learning and guided to construct their own knowledge about the world. At The Atelier School we celebrate the idea that each individual has unique insights, approaches, and methods in their learning process. We believe that meaningful learning occurs when connections are made among disciplines or ideas. Our arts-integrated curriculum interweaves science, history, language arts, and math to create authentic experiences for our students. We believe it is through open dialogue, respect, and acceptance that we can create a positive learning environment where children are able to express their own ideas and concerns.

I am often asked how we approach academics at our school. And my answer is always that we stage our classrooms to support children in finding their own questions and testing their own hypotheses, which just comes naturally to them.
When children find their own questions, they take greater ownership of their learning, open up deeper thinking and even build resilience; a recipe for building a life learner! Take a peek...

Respecting a child's innate desire to learn, our school emphasizes a strong sense of community and the flexibility of an emergent curriculum. Before a child can feel strong and confident in their academic pursuits, they must first feel secure and supported, developing and strengthening their emotion

Using a simple tubing and water, children in Red class explored the movement of water from one place to another; developing theories, revising ideas and collaborating with peers. This invitation reminds us that rich learning always emerges from meaningful materials and the space to wonder, investigate and construct knowledge together.

Happy end of the school year and congratulations to our elementary and middle school students! Our last couple of weeks have been full of celebration. In our annual Spring Sharing, students performed songs in Spanish; played percussion instruments celebrating samba culture; read original scenes and monologues; showed mastery of ukulele; and displayed fiber artworks. Our Spirit Week themes were a hitβ€”students seemed to especially enjoy Dress Like a Teacher Day. And we took advantage of some beautiful weather to take a full day trip to Stephens Lake Park. Have a wonderful summer, and we’ll see you soon!

We’re shouting a giant THANK YOU to our sponsors, donors, and all who attended our Trivia Night fundraiser! Together we raised just under $18,000- an incredible show of support for the joyful, inclusive education at the Atelier School!

Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and helping us continue the good work we do every day to educate the children of our community.
