Ridge View High School Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law

A massive thank you to everyone who helped get us to these steps. The girls presented today in the group documentary Senior division at the national round of National History Day presenting their piece on the Aba Women of Nigeria and their fight against colonial taxation in 1929. It’s a fascinating testament to the power of women to organize, spanning 130 miles at a time when communication was limited. Spoiler alert: the women defeated the British without spilling blood.

Congratulations to Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law Seniors Alyssa Walker and Rose Miller who were selected to represent the state of South Carolina at the Close Up NextGen Roundtable: Decision 2026 program in Washington DC this July. The program brings together first-time voters to debate key policy issues ahead of the midterm elections. The program aims to foster civil discourse and explore diverse perspectives, focusing on preparing young people for engaged citizenship.

The Scholars Academy freshmen presented their 20 Time Projects today. Each of them spent 20% of their time learning a new skill of their choice. We saw presentations on everything from baking to animation to running track with spikes. I’m very proud of their hard work.
