💙 It Was an Honor to Join HCPD Academy 53! 💙

Athelas was honored to be invited to participate in the Howard County Police Department’s (HCPD) Academy 53 community group and organization presentations!

We were grateful for the opportunity to share more about Athelas, our mission, the individuals we support, and the communities they call home. Most importantly, we were able to take a deeper look at the lives, abilities, goals, and experiences of the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who make up our Athelas community.

Thank you to HCPD Academy 53 for welcoming us and creating space for meaningful conversations, learning, and understanding. Opportunities like this help strengthen relationships, build trust, and foster a more inclusive and connected community for everyone. 💙

A few days after A Legacy in Bloom, our hearts are still full of gratitude! 💛

Thank you to our generous sponsors, donors, families, community members, friends, and everyone who joined us to celebrate this incredible milestone. A special thank you to Delegates Hill and Feldmark, Senator Guzzone, and Maryland Secretary of Disabilities Carol Beatty for honoring Athelas with such meaningful recognitions.

For 50 years, our community has helped us grow, make a difference, and create meaningful opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We would not be here without YOU!

Yesterday, our CEO, Dr. Chantelle Taylor, had the wonderful opportunity to join FOX 5 DC to talk about Athelas as we celebrate 50 years of serving our community!

Dr. Taylor shared more about our history, the programs and services we provide, and—most importantly—the incredible people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who make the Athelas community so special. 💚

Do you remember that saying “It takes a Village” well… the village showed up and showed out!!! Thank you to everyone who was able to support our ambition to make a difference!! Each month the sales of these baked goods help a follow Howard County non-profit organization engage, educate and provide resources for people and families in need.
