Columbia College Music Program

That’s a wrap! Thank you to the Jane Froman Singers for providing music for both commencement ceremonies on Saturday. The end of the year is always tough with good byes, but we are grateful for memories and experiences of our music community. Have a great summer!

Prof. Judith Shaw and Christopher Deeken (BA of Music, class of 2023) provided music for today’s Ivy Chain Ceremony. The Ivy Chain is a long lasting tradition for graduates at CC, and we are honored to have music continue to be part of it.

We’re thrilled to be hosting the Columbia Public Schools 5th Grade Honor Choir on campus today! They have been rehearsing and having a great day on campus interacting with CC faculty, students, and staff for a fun filled day of cool activities and music making. We’re looking forward to seeing their concert tonight in Launer Auditorium!

Eclipse at CC

Last night’s dress rehearsal was incredible! Be sure to check out the Unified Voices Gospel Choir in tonight’s Unity concert in Launer at 7pm! This concert is hosted by CC and produced in collaboration with the Choral Arts Alliance of Missouri. In addition to UVGC, this concert will feature the Columbia Community Gospel Choir, MU Legion of Black Collegians Gospel Choir, and Columbia Kids Gospel Choir and Columbia Youth Choir. Admission is FREE. Doors open at 6:30pm. See you all soon!

Throwback to when Music at CC hosted our guest artist in residence, Cameron J. Rolling! Before the fall semester finished, CC music students sang in a voice masterclass led by Mr. Rolling. Students also got the opportunity to work with him one on one in their voice lessons during the week. We are so glad to have such a great guest artist share his expertise and craft with our students! Thank you .j.r for the wonderful experience!

Unified Voices Gospel Choir is back! We are thrilled to have Ronnie Wilson back as our director along with some of the most amazing musicians. This choir is open and free to all (no audition!) and it’s not too late to still join! Come join us on Wednesday evening from 5:30-6:30pm in Bixby Hall at the Brouder Science Center in CC campus.

Yesterday, the Jane Froman Singers, under the direction of Dr. Bryan Stenson and Prof. Emily Edgington Andrews, provided music for CC’s Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony. We’re proud to have CC music be part of such a special moment for so many CC students, alumni, and families. The end of the semester also marks a time where we have to say to good bye to some dear international members of our choir as they journey back to Korea and Japan. We are so glad that they made music part of their CC adventure. We wish them the best, and they will always be part of our CC music family!

Come hear the Jane Froman Singers at CC’s Holiday Lighting Celebration happening TODAY! The will sing a couple of carols to kick off the holiday season on campus at 5pm

Last night the Unified Voices Gospel Choir was included in MU’s Sankofa concert. This powerful Gospel program was centered on the history of the Underground Railroad and featured world class artists from around the Midwest. A huge thank you to our director Ronnie Williams for including CC in this fantastic performance!
