When I found out a milk allergy was the cause of my migraines along with several other unpleasant symptoms a few years ago, I was pretty overwhelmed. However it wasn't until I really started to clean up my diet that I was able to see just how much food impacts our bodies. It has been a longgg journey, but today I am more passionate than ever about food and how it relates to health. I know how over

whelming trying to eat "right" can be. I mean just trying to figure out what "right" is can be a challenge with so much conflicting nutritional information out there. I do not think there is one size fits all diet for everyone. I believe eliminating all of the potential problem foods and then adding them back in one at a time to see what your body does and does not tolerate is the best way to find your ideal diet. However this is a huge step for someone just starting to try to eat healthy. For some, myself included, smaller steps are much more helpful in getting to the same result. After all, any change is better than no change. If you were to google tips for getting children to eat better, one of the number one tips you will find is to get them in the kitchen. Back 2 Basics Cooking will be offering cooking classes for children specially designed to help get them excited about eating real food. These classes will be filled with plenty of helpful information and resources for parents as well. Back 2 Basics Cooking will also offer one and one cooking help via Skype and in person if needed. Back 2 Basics Cooking classes are ideal for any child with food allergies. Specific food allergies and intolerances can be accommodate with advanced notice. (Although this may include a price increase for the group classes, depending on if specialty items need to be purchased.)

A time was had in the kitchen this week!

For 5 days, this crew (and a couple others not pictured) came in and prepared 3 dishes each day while learning useful life skills. And they even helped clean up!!

All but one student in this photo also came to camp last summer. It is always such a joy having the kids that come back summer after summer. Im excited to see many of them again next summer!

Our first ever cake decorating camp was a success! All of the campers were so talented and they were an absolute joy to teach.

I wish I would have been able to snap a picture of each of their cakes. They all turned out beautiful and so creative. I'm already excited for next summer's camp!

These campers worked hard yesterday at their first day of cake decorating camp!

Everyone baked four layers of cake each, mixed their own icing colors and filled their bags, played some piping pictonary, decorated some cupcakes, and washed their own dishes.

Their cakes are anxiously awaiting to be decorated in the freezer.

Today is my birthday, and it had me looking at old pictures when I ran across this one. Flash back to this age when I used to push a chair up to the stove so I could help my momma cook. 12 years in this month, and I am still so honored that I get to teach cooking to others for a living.

Thank you all for continuing to support my dream! I couldn't do it without all of you.

Flashback to 2014 when my amazing momma made all these aprons for me by hand! Many of them are still in rotation during classes today.

Thanks again mom ❤️

What do you cook with your significant other?

These fun couples prepared a delicious taco braid with some flavorful elote (Mexican Street Corn), and crunchy on the outside but soft of the inside fried ice cream during their class and they rocked every step! 💕
