Here is the story behind today.

On June 5, 1965, Columbia College Alumnae walked into a room and presented President Spears with a check for $372,170, raised in the year following a fire that destroyed the main campus building. They were not obligated to do so. They did it because this place meant something to them.

Sixty-one years later, Victory Day is our opportunity to honor that same commitment. We give because we love this College. Because someone gave before us. Because our students deserve the same legacy of generosity and care. Today, our ask is simple: give to the Loyalty Fund. It is an unrestricted gift, which means it goes where our students and our institution need it most. The 225-donor milestone unlocks $2,500 from our Board of Trustees by 6:00 PM. We can get there.

One more reason to give right now: anyone who makes a gift between 3:00 and 4:00 PM is entered to win a basket of Columbia College swag.

We are close, and the clock is ticking.

The Board of Trustees has committed to unlocking $2,500 for the Loyalty Fund if we reach 125 donors by 11:00 AM. We are within reach.

The Loyalty Fund is unrestricted, which means every dollar goes exactly where our community needs it most. If you have been planning to give today, now is the moment.

There is also something a little extra on the line: anyone who makes a gift between 10:30 and 11:30 AM is automatically entered to win a basket of Columbia College swag. Give for the right reasons, and you might just win, too.

Today is Victory Day.

Sixty-one years ago, the Columbia College Alumnae Association turned a moment of crisis into one of the most remarkable acts of generosity in this institution's history. After the main campus building was destroyed by fire in 1964, our alumnae pledged to rebuild, and on June 5, 1965, they presented President Spears with a check for $372,170. That is the Columbia College spirit.

Today, we are asking our community to honor that legacy. Our goal is 350 donors to the Loyalty Fund, an unrestricted gift that goes where our students need it most.

Give because you love purple. Give because someone did for you.

Koala Camp is a wrap! Columbia College's Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program presented Koala Camp, a community outreach program for children with disabilities and their families. Over three weeks, families joined us in College Place to learn early ASL signs, guided by CC faculty, staff, and students.

Through games and activities designed to build real, everyday communication skills, these little ones walked away with signs they'll carry with them as they grow. Six sessions, countless first signs, and a graduation ceremony to close it all out. We love this program so much. See you next year! 🀟

Four years ago, Jordan Wright moved into Hudson Hall as one of the first residential classes of men to enroll at Columbia College as first-year students. This month, he walked across the stage with a business degree β€” and a place in our history. πŸ’œ

Columbia College has proudly graduated men before, but Jordan and his classmates were among the first to experience the full residential journey from day one after we became an all-gender institution. We're so proud of everything he and our graduates represent for this college's future.

Congratulations to Jordan and all our spring graduates! πŸŽ“

Jordan Wright graduated from Columbia College with a business degree, marking the completion of a journey that began four years ago when he became part of the first group of men to attend the formerly all-women’s institution.

Victory Day 2026 05/20/2026

In 1965, Columbia College alumnae came together to help rebuild a campus they loved. Their extraordinary generosity helped save this institution and shaped the future for generations of students to come. Now, over 60 years later, we honor that legacy through Victory Day and the Victory Campaign: First to Rise.

Join us by making a gift, celebrating with us on campus June 5, or helping spread the word to fellow Koalas and alumni.

Because someone once gave for us. Now it’s our turn.
