Sustainable Carolina Sustainable Carolina is the student branch of the Office of Sustainability.

Our mission is to educate and transform the campus and community by promoting collaborative relationships among students, faculty, staff, and community members for exploring and implementing sustainability practices.

Last semester was our first semester apart of Sustainable Carolina and we recovered over 3,000 pounds of food on campus! We can’t wait for another great semester! 🥒🥝🍏

This weekend, we participated in the Great Southeastern Pollinator Census at Rosewood Community Orchard. Last September, Columbia became a Bee City. We’re grateful to be able to participate in citizen science opportunities like this. Do you think USC should follow our city’s lead and become a Bee Campus?

Did you know that we have a litter collection device installed in Rocky Branch Creek? Provided by Osprey Initiative , the “Litter Gitter” collects litter upstream as it flows through the creek!

Did you know that one oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day? Oysters are essential to their marine ecosystems, so the Conservation and Stewardship team joined the Nature Conservancy to build homes for them! Follow along to learn more about their day well spent along the coast🦪🌊
