MDK Kyu Shinsa
We hosted our Kyu Shinsa at our dojo today. All applicants have been training hard and consistently, and it truly showed in their performances.
Well done, and congratulations to everyone! 👏
One applicant shared that after coming home from high school each day, he practices 100 suburi along with the finger-strengthening exercise introduced by Kudo Sensei back in March. After just two months of dedication, he’s already completing it in 13 seconds—amazing progress!
Keep up the great work! 💪

A heartfelt thank you to Stevie Roquelaure Sensei from Guadeloupe (located in the Caribbean Sea) to join our Friday night practice.
It was truly an honor to keiko and learn from your Nitto. We are also very grateful for the book you kindly shared with us. We hope to cross our swords again in the future.
Now we know to bring the bogu when we go to vacation in Caribbean island!

The Japanese American Student Association (JASA) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) successfully hosted their very first Spring Festival 🌸
We were honored to support this wonderful initiative, with Maryland Kendo Club and Maryland Jyoshinkai Naginata Club participating in a live demonstration. We were able to demonstrate the similarities and differences between kendo and naginata and end with the Ishujiai.
The event drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, and it was a great opportunity to share the spirit of kendo and naginata while celebrating Japanese culture with the community.
Thank you to JASA at UMBC for organizing such a fantastic event—we look forward to future collaborations!
