There’s something for everyone at Hammond! ❤️

With more than 50 clubs and organizations available to Upper School students, the Student Activities Fair gave our Skyhawks a chance to connect, explore new interests, and find their place in our community.

We’re excited to see all the ways our Skyhawks get involved this year! ❤️

By the time Hammond pre-kindergarteners graduate, they will have explored 14 countries without ever leaving home!

Each year, as part of our Country of Study program, one faculty member from each division travels to the country our students will study in the year ahead. They return with more than photographs and souvenirs; they bring back a firsthand look at the places, history, culture, and everyday life of that country.

This summer, 4th Grade teacher Mrs. Lowe spent 10 days in South Korea—and for her, the journey was personal. South Korea was already part of her story. Her grandmother was born in Masan, her father spent part of his childhood in South Korea, and her grandfather was once stationed at Camp Hialeah. Traveling alongside her father made the journey back especially meaningful.

From Seoul to Busan, Mrs. Lowe explored South Korea’s history, culture, food, and traditions, visited the DMZ, heard firsthand from a North Korean defector, and walked the grounds of Camp Hialeah, where her grandfather had once been stationed.

“I am incredibly grateful to Hammond for giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I returned home with unforgettable memories, a deeper connection to my family’s heritage, and so much excitement to share what I learned with my students.”

The best part is she brought a little bit of South Korea back to Hammond—and into the classroom. ❤️✈️🇰🇷

Creativity took flight in the Lower School today! ❤️

Inspired by Forky from Toy Story, our Pre-K students put their imaginations to work as they created their very own Henry Hawks. With guidance from Mr. Walsh, students transformed simple materials like forks, pipe cleaners, feathers, googly eyes, and foam beaks into their own one-of-a-kind creations.

What a fun, hands-on way for our youngest Skyhawks to learn, explore, and bring their ideas to life! ✨

Today, we were excited to welcome author Jo Watson Hackl back to campus! 📚❤️

Upper School and Middle School Librarian Dr. Beaver invited Ms. Hackl to present to our Middle School during an assembly, followed by Q&A sessions and a book signing during lunch.

Over the summer, 5th graders had the opportunity to dive into her book, “Smack Dab in the Middle of Maybe”, making today’s visit a special opportunity to hear directly from the author, ask questions, and connect with the story beyond the pages.

Thank you for spending the day with our Skyhawks and inspiring a love of reading! ❤️📚

For our 9th graders, the Upper School starts with a splash!

An annual rite of passage, the Class of 2030 kicked off the school year on the Nantahala–navigating rapids, stretching comfort zones, building trust, and discovering what they can accomplish together. They’re no longer just going with the flow! ❤️
