Engage Students With Pollinator Activities for World Bee Day - Project Learning Tree 05/20/2026

Celebrate World Bee Day with a swarm of sweet educational activities from Project Learning Tree! There's no better time to learn about all the benefits bees bring us, including contributions to biodiversity, the stability of our ecosystems and food security.

Plus, help raise awareness about the threats facing bees, including habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change, and conservation efforts to help our pollinating pals overcome these obstacles.

Many thanks to PLT Facilitators Darlene Faucette and Allison McDowell from South Carolina Child Care Resource & Referral for leading a PLT: Trees & Me workshop last month in Newberry!

The event kicked off with an icebreaker, "Forest Careers Matching Game," and it also included free exploration with woodworking and art, leafing through the guide, lesson planning and discussions throughout!

We appreciate SC CCR&R's partnership with SC PLT and look forward to next time!

Seven students working toward their Masters of Arts in Teaching participated in a PLT professional development day at Columbia International University last week.

The afternoon was filled with fun activities, including, How Many Cones Are You?, Discovery Tables: Favorite Tree Maze & Make a Nest, Home Tweet Home and more!

We look forward to seeing how these amazing students will use PLT's Trees and Me activities in their future careers as educators.

A group of 43 early elementary education majors from USC took part in a Project Learning Tree Early Childhood Professional Development event earlier this month! We hope they will use the PLT resources some day in their lessons to get kids outside and help them learn and connect with our forests.

SCFC Environmental Education Program Manager Matt Schnabel led activities in the first session, and participants took the lead in the second session.

Activities included: Graph a Leaf Collection, Make Tree Silhouettes, Grow from a Seed, 3 Cheers for Trees, Sounds Around and more. Plus, future educators were introduced to the Trees & Me guide and online resources!

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this training possible!

SCFC Environmental Education Program Manager Matt Schnabel recently attended the Project Learning Tree Annual Conference celebrating 50 years of PLT at the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

The annual meeting is always something we look forward to, and it serves as a wonderful opportunity to explore, connect and learn!

Have you ever stopped to think about how much you rely on water? It's , which is a great time to learn about watersheds-- a resource that's right in your own backyard!

In Project Learning Tree's Forests, Water & People – Activity 3 – Watershed Watch, students can adopt the roles of community members to debate solutions to an issue related to forests and watersheds: https://www.plt.org/activity/forests-water-people-activity-3-watershed-watch/?campaignid=21747489088&adgroupid=167572957843&adid=714651931626&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21747489088&gbraid=0AAAAAC0lIKjw8sJUKLaqA2NC1yUiZ8l7u&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4PPNBhD8ARIsAMo-icyQvc2Tm7CFmgbLdgn1e5iIc2F80G3fA2THsKLJJFKA8nwIN5GX5UcaAlAQEALw_wcB
