Recently on Arts à la Carte: The Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI) with Professor of Composition Stefan Freund. This program of the University of Missouri supports emerging composers of new classical music.
St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) and MNMI have a long-running collaboration that brings world premiere performances to St. Louis. On most Live at The Sheldon programs this season, SLSO musicians will give the world premiere performances of MNMI composers’ works.
Rising MNMI composer Trent Fitzsimmons’ "Equinox Serenade" will be featured on February 5 as part of the program "Songs of Belonging". Also on this concert, SLSO musicians bring to life the stirring works of Paul Wiancko, Kevin Puts, and Johannes Brahms, each piece a moving expression of the human desire for connection and place.
