Alpha Beta of Chi Psi Fraternity www.chipsi.org/southcarolina

Alpha Beta of Chi Psi was originally founded at the University of South Carolina in 1858 but closed during the "recent unpleasantness" of the 1860s. Forced into dormancy again by carpetbaggers and then again by anti-fraternity legislation, Alpha Beta finally achieved a more permanent status when it rechartered in 1956. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in the towering new Lodge at 508 Lincoln Street in USC's Greek Village, the Alpha hosted the 165th National Convention in Columbia in July 2006.
