How Motley Rice has spent decades fighting al-Qaida for 9/11 victims

The Charleston, SC, law firm led by Joe Rice and Ron Motley was behind a legal battle over the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Rice died Sept. 4, 2026.

This Labor Day, we honor the working men and women whose hard work keeps South Carolina moving forward.

Labor Day began as a movement to improve the lives of American workers, including the fight for safer workplaces, reasonable hours and fair treatment.

For generations, trial lawyers have stood with workers when those protections fail, helping hold wrongdoers accountable and protect the rights of working people.

Because every worker deserves a safe workplace and to return home safely at the end of the day.

Kevin R. Dean has officially begun his term as President of the South Carolina Association for Justice.

A member of Motley Rice LLC, Kevin has dedicated his career to representing individuals and families harmed by dangerous products, workplace injuries, and other acts of negligence. As SCAJ President, he will lead our Association’s efforts to protect access to justice, advocate for a fair civil justice system, and ensure that every South Carolinian has the opportunity to hold wrongdoers accountable.
