Teach Science and Mathematics is a program launched by the University of South Carolina's College of Education in an effort to increase the number of science and math teachers in South Carolina. The program is also meant to raise awareness of the vital need for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) teachers. With more than 8.6 million STEM-related careers projected to be available by 2

018, according to a study conducted by Georgetown University, the high demand for STEM careers leads to an increasingly high demand for STEM educators. Currently STEM teachers are in short supply, particularly in South Carolina. If you know of current middle, high, or college students who are struggling to figure out their career path or know someone who is seeking a career change, encourage them to consider a job as a science or math teacher!
