Community isn’t just what we teach; it’s how we treat one another. Right now, our counters are overflowing with beautiful, local green goodness and fresh beets! Whenever produce season allows, we love intentionally packing up shares for our staff to enjoy at home with their own families. Though we do it on a flexible schedule throughout the year, the goal remains the same: to make sure our hardworking team knows they are deeply seen, valued, and supported. Bon appétit, team! 🍲❤️
Thank you

PREPARATION FOR LIFE: Windsor Street Montessori promotes peace and humanity in the hopeful hearts of young learners.
Through a food-forward Montessori approach, every child receives a gentle invitation to find joy in eating together. The Windsor Street Montessori School is a not-for-profit, independent Montessori private school affiliated with the American Montessori Society. WSMS offers educational programs for pre-school, kindergarten, and elementary children ages 2.5 to 12 years of age.
Leaving our mark, beautifully and permanently.
We are absolutely thrilled to unveil the new Windsor Street Montessori Graduate Mural, a breathtaking masterpiece brought to life by our beloved and incredibly talented art teacher, Ms. Cristi Núñez
Ms. Cristi has transformed a simple stairwell into a sacred space of memory and celebration. This stunning tree is so much more than paint on a wall—it is a living symbol of our deeply rooted community, our shared love for nature, and the gentle kindness that defines our school family.
To make this milestone even more magical, our Class of 2026 graduates became the very first to press permanent ink to the leaves, signing their names directly into the artwork.
With every signature, a legacy is sealed. These graduates are moving forward into the world, but a piece of them will always remain right here—firmly rooted, beautifully growing, and forever a permanent symbol of our school community.
Congratulations to our graduates, and thank you, Ms. Cristi, for giving our community a gift that will inspire generations to come. 🤍
“I will miss my friends, I will miss my teachers... but I can’t wait for my new beginnings.” 🥹👇
There wasn’t a dry eye on the playground this morning. For our last circle of the year, families joined us to celebrate our 3rd-grade graduates as they wrap up their Lower Elementary years.
Watching them step up to the microphone, holding their handwritten reflections and bouquets of flowers, was a poignant reminder of what a Montessori education is all about: independence, confidence, and a voice of one’s own.
They started as observers and leave us as leaders. ✨
Drop a ❤️ in the comments to wish our amazing graduates the best of luck as they step into Upper Elementary!
Our 2026 gardening season has officially begun at Windsor Street!
Today, our smallest hands took on their first big chores. There is something deeply meaningful about watching a toddler tilt a watering can for the first time—it’s more than just plant care; it’s the beginning of a lifelong connection to the land and to themselves.
As they learn to nourish these tiny sprouts, they are also learning to nourish their own spirits and care for one another. In every drop of water, there’s a lesson in patience, gentleness, and the beautiful responsibility of helping something grow.
We’re so excited to watch both our garden and our children flourish this season. Here’s to a year of dirt-stained knees and hearts full of wonder!
There is a quiet, radical magic happening in the dirt at Windsor Street Montessori.
Today, we didn’t just plant seeds; we practiced the art of Resilience. In our Food-Forward approach, we recognize that a child’s relationship with their lunch plate begins long before the meal is served. It begins with the humility of stained hands and the patience of waiting for a sprout.
By tending to these tomatoes, cucumbers, and fragrant herbs, our students are learning the ultimate form of Self-Care. They are discovering that to nourish the body, one must first respect the land. This garden is a living classroom for Stewardship—a place where we model that we are not separate from nature, but its careful guardians.
We aren’t just growing food. We are growing the people who will change the world.
Food is our greatest teacher.
Today’s curriculum: Seasonality.
Our students have been observing our garden’s progress daily, learning that good things take time. To make sure everyone got a taste of the season’s first magic, we sourced these vibrant beauties from .
By tasting berries picked at the peak of ripeness—bursting with sweetness and “grown-down-the-road” freshness—our kids are learning to tell the story of their food.
These lessons in stewardship and local sourcing are the most delicious ones we teach!
05/01/2026
In a digital landscape defined by instant notifications and fleeting interactions, there is a profound, grounding power in the physical act of writing.
At our school, we choose to look away from screens and toward the community that sustains us.
The letters our elementary students recently penned were more than just a lesson in penmanship or the mechanics of the postal service; they were an exercise in intentional gratitude. By sourcing whole foods from local producers, we don’t just feed our children—we connect them to the land and the people who tend it.
Receiving word from Dustin Stanton (find Stanton Brother’s Eggs at the !), our local egg supplier, that these handwritten notes reached his hands reminds us why we prioritize these “analog” skills. Teaching a child to address an envelope and trust it to the mail system is an act of faith in our shared infrastructure and a bridge built between a young student and the farmer who nourishes them.
We are cultivating more than just scholars; we are raising citizens who understand that the most meaningful connections often require a stamp, a pen, and a bit of patience.
There is a profound magic that happens when we gather at the table—or in this case, on the rug—to share a story that mirrors our own mission.
In celebration of Earth Day, our community came together to read Harlem Grown. It’s a story about a vacant lot turned into a vibrant garden, but more importantly, it’s a story about how cultivating the land can transform a community’s heart.
At Windsor Street Montessori, we call this being Food-Forward.
To us, food is a language of love and a bridge to autonomy. When our students learn to sow seeds, harvest produce, and understand the origin of their meals, they aren’t just learning a life skill—they are becoming stewards of the planet. They are learning that by nourishing the soil, they are equipped to nourish themselves and, ultimately, care for others.
By sharing stories like Harlem Grown, we show our young learners that they are capable of making informed choices for their bodies and their world. We are raising a generation grounded in kindness and brave enough to question the status quo.
Because here, we know that promoting peace starts with one meal, one seed, and one shared story at a time.
There is always a place for you at our table.
Earth Day is every day at Windsor Street. 🌎✨
This morning, our community lived out our food-forward approach in the most literal way possible. With the help of some incredible parent volunteers, our students spent the morning unloading a truckload of compost and soil to prep our beds for the 2026 Garden Season!
At Windsor Street, food is a language of love and a bridge that connects us all. By involving our children in growing and harvesting, we aren’t just filling garden beds—we’re cultivating a profound bond with the Earth and teaching the joy of feeling rooted in the world around us.
From these very beds, we will grow the fresh ingredients that make their way directly onto our lunch plates. It’s more than a lesson; it’s an immersive experience in environmental stewardship and nourishment.
We believe that when children see where their food comes from, they become empowered to care for themselves and the planet.
Thank you to everyone who showed up to work hard, get messy, and celebrate the beauty of our “secret garden” in the city.
