Tarifa, a 2nd generation Lebanese American is passionate about Raqs Sharqi, the dance of her heritage and strives to honor her uncle/mentor Ibrahim Farrah in maintaining a standard as a Middle Eastern Dance Artist. Tarifa earned her MA degree in Dance Education from NYU in 1982 and her BS degree in Health & PE with an emphasis in Dance from West Chester University in 1978. She has maintained certifications as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and SilverSneakers Instructor. Aside from teaching dance, she offers Cardio/Core and Gentle Yoga/Stretch group classes at local spaces. She also offers one-on-one Fitness Training (by appointment only) to accommodate dancers and mature women who are dedicated to fine-tuning their instrument so it doesn’t inhibit their ability to lead a quality lifestyle. Tarifa's philosophy is to prepare the student so that they may reach their full potential while maintaining a high standard in how they present their art with respect to cultural implications.
