The Master of Studies in Law (MSL) program visited Myrtle Beach last week!

Director of Graduate Law Programs Mark Yancey and Excellence in Policing and Public Safety Program (EPPS) Executive Director Chris Cowan attended the SOUTH CAROLINA LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ASSOCIATION Conference (https://www.scleoa.org/) to connect with law enforcement professionals interested in advancing their careers.

They highlighted how our MSL and Certificate Program in Public Safety Executive Leadership prepares public safety leaders with:

⭐ MSL FRIDAY FACULTY SPOTLIGHT ⭐

Meet Marc Brown. Ed. D a lead instructor in the MSL Public Safety Executive Leadership Program. He teaches Leadership and Management, Collaborative Communications, and co-teaches Sound Agency Management.
With a combined 23 years of expertise in law enforcement and instruction, Mark brings a wealth of real-world experience to his teaching. His background as both an officer and an educator gives him a unique insight into what it takes to lead effectively and communicate with purpose in high-stakes environments.

After teaching at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), he spent five years training officers from across the country in physical techniques and leadership principles. Mark discovered the EPPS program and knew it was the right fit. “It aligned perfectly with my values and passion for leadership development,” he shared.

When asked what he enjoys most about teaching, Mark said, “I enjoy the relationships you get to build.” His advice for future students: “Be open-minded and embrace the challenge. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it — you get out what you put in.”

Fun fact: Mark is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! 🥋

Our MSL in Health Law program instructor, Professor Barbara Youngberg, will be presenting at the 2025 South Carolina Nurses Association (SCNA) State Convention starting tomorrow.
Professor Youngberg will also be representing the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) in Health Systems Law and our Certificate in Health Care Compliance programs. We are thrilled to announce that our Public Safety Executive Leadership Master of Studies in Law (MSL) and Certificate programs have officially received SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) approval!

This innovative, hybrid program was developed in partnership with the Excellence in Policing and Public Safety initiative (Excellence in Policing and Public Safety Program (EPPS)) to equip current and aspiring public safety leaders with the legal, ethical, and strategic tools needed for today’s complex challenges.
