Our third MU foal of the season is mister Sullivan! We welcomed this adorable Paint c**t on March 17th.
Sullivan is sired by our newest MU owned stallion Bearly A Diamond (APHA/PtHA stallion) and is the first foal out of MU owned broodmare MU Bet Shez Detail (Best Bet Chet, Coats N Tails, and Last Detail breeding).
While Sullivan is solid colored, we know his dam is homozygous for W20 so it is possible that he inherited another color gene from his sire which could give him regular APHA registration. We can't wait to test him!

The educational goal of the MU Equine Program is to give students an integrated experience in the equine industry to better prepare them for equine related careers. We are part of the Division of Animal Sciences which focuses on teaching whole-animal biology, applying the latest in genetics, biology, physiology, and nutrition to livestock production and management.
All animal sciences students take courses in physiology, genetics, nutrition, and reproduction, with eight equine specific courses offered. Equine coursework directly applies topics covered in a lecture format to hands-on management of horses in our program. The MU Equine Teaching Facility has housed a commercial Quarter Horse breeding operation since 1959 and is completely student operated. Each horse in our breeding herd serves double duty as both a producer and an educator. By using our breeding program as the cornerstone of all our courses, students learn to make management decisions based on their foundation courses in nutrition, physiology, and genetics. Undergraduate students involved in the MU Equine Program are involved in all aspects of the herds business model, including breeding, foaling, training, and marketing of horses raised in our program.
The MU Equine Program offers a certificate in Equine Science and Management. This certificate provides students with knowledge and skills to prepare them for careers in the equine industry. This certificate is available to all majors at Mizzou including non-degree seeking students.
