It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of GSSM alumnus Aiden Kimrey ’22, who died on August 22 at the age of 22.

Aiden was a student in the University of South Carolina Honors College and was just two semesters away from earning his engineering degree with honors. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, quick wit, curiosity, adventurous spirit, and ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him.

We extend our deepest condolences to Aiden’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone whose life he touched. Please keep them in your thoughts during this heartbreaking time.

A celebration of Aiden’s life will be held Saturday, August 29, at noon at Belk Funeral Home, 229 W. Broad St. in Darlington. Friends and family are invited to gather beginning at 11 a.m. to share stories and memories.

📣 Help Shape the 2027 GSSM Reunion Weekend!

Save the date and get ready to come home to Hartsville! GSSM’s 2027 Reunion Weekend will be held March 19–21, 2027.

All alumni are invited, with special recognition for our milestone Classes of 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017, and 2022! 🎉

The GSSM Alumni Association and GSSM Foundation are beginning the planning process, and we need alumni volunteers to help make the weekend meaningful and memorable. Opportunities include:

🔹 Joining the Reunion Planning Committee
🔹 Serving as a class contact
🔹 Sharing information with classmates
🔹 Suggesting activities and traditions
🔹 Helping plan an optional class gathering
🔹 Completing a specific planning or event-day task
🔹 Participating as a speaker or moderator
🔹 Helping develop a reunion mobile app or website

Whether you can take on a working committee role or contribute to one specific task, your involvement can make a meaningful difference.
