Sweet treats and even sweeter learning! ππ¦
Our 2βs friends celebrated National Ice Cream Month by opening their very own ice cream shop! From taking orders and scooping pretend ice cream to serving their classmates, dramatic play encouraged creativity, communication, and imagination. π¨
We also mixed in a little math fun! Each child practiced counting by adding the correct number of colorful βsprinklesβ to their ice cream, strengthening number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and fine motor skills along the way.
Hands-on learning is always the sweetest way to grow! β¨

Our August Open House is happening this week! πβ¨π
Stop by Celebree Monday through Friday to tour our classrooms, meet our educators, and see how we help children learn, grow, explore, and build meaningful friendships through purposeful play. π§©π¨π€
Come see if Celebree could become your second home. ππ‘

π¨ Process Art vs. Arts & Crafts π
Thereβs a difference, and it matters.
Arts and crafts often focus on following steps to create a finished product.
Process art focuses on the experience.
Children get to:
β¨ Explore different materials at their own pace
β¨ Make their own choices
β¨ Experiment with new ideas
β¨ Create without a βrightβ answer
At Celebree School of Columbia-South, we love process art because it helps children build creativity, confidence, fine motor skills, and problem-solving skills, all while learning through play.
π¨ Whatβs your childβs favorite art activity right now?

Honestly, itβs for the best. Because we celebrate the friendships being built at Celebree every day! π
Preschool friendships are where children begin learning what it means to be part of a community. π€ With shared giggles, imaginative play, and even the occasional disagreement, children at Celebree School of Columbia-South learn how to connect with their peers and grow together.
A belated happy International Friendship Day from a place where friendships are formed every single day. π«Ά

Let's talk about structured vs. unstructured play.
Structured play looks like a teacher-led counting game, a guided art activity, or a group game of "Simon Says". π¨π
Unstructured play looks like turning a cardboard box into a rocket ship, running a pretend restaurant, or mixing mud and leaves into βsoup.β ππ±
Both are valuable learning experiences here at Celebree School of Columbia-South.
β
Structured activities help introduce new skills.
β
Unstructured moments help children discover what they can do with them.
