🌿 On Aug. 19, the Landscape Services team took a trip to the Prairie Garden Trust! The group explored the grounds and saw a variety of native plants and diverse ecosystems throughout the property.

🌱 It was a great day spent exploring and enjoying Missouri’s natural landscapes!

Our second Big and Beautiful Containers tour brought 20 people out to explore the colorful containers found throughout Mizzou’s campus! Led by Jenna Sommer, attendees, including members of Friends of the Garden, had the chance to see a variety of plants and arrangements that help make campus beautiful.

Take a look at this before-and-after transformation on the east side of the Geology Building!

As part of a sidewalk replacement project, Landscape Services took the opportunity to refresh the surrounding landscape. The previous landscape featured invasive callery pear trees and aging junipers, which were removed to make room for a more diverse selection of plants.

The updated landscape now features Sun Valley maples, panicle hydrangeas, low-growing chokeberries, perennials and ornamental grasses, adding new color, texture and seasonal interest to the area. 🌿

🪴🌺 On Aug. 13, about 15 attendees many of whom are Friends of the Garden, joined Jenna Sommer for a tour of Mizzou’s Big and Beautiful Containers. The group explored campus and took a closer look at the many container gardens that add color and beauty to campus spaces.

🌳 Throughout the past week, Landscape Services has been hard at work in the Woodland Garden, removing a tree that was struck by lightning. Cleanup began Thursday, Aug. 6, as the team safely removed the tree and cleared the surrounding area of branches and other plant debris. Having an in-house forestry team allows for a quick response when storms cause damage across campus, helping keep our grounds safe and well-maintained. 🌳
