Qualified for my first MMA fight after winning the Light Heavyweight division at the 2nd Fort Hood Combatives Invitational.
The bad news: I don't have striking.
The good news: I've got Judo.
Looks like I'm about to try to Ronda Rousey my way through this whole MMA thing. π€£π₯
Stay tuned.

Different opponents. Different tournaments. Different rule-sets. Same solution.
Over the past two years, Kata Guruma has become one of my highest percentage throws. The more I train, the more I realize that success isn't about knowing a hundred techniques. It's about finding what works for you and refining it over and over again.
For me, the solution is usually Kata Guruma π₯

Honored to be featured on the front page of the Fort Hood Sentinel following my victory at the Phantom Warrior Combatives Invitational II.
To win the Light Heavyweight Division, I fought through three matches to qualify for the finals, where I competed under Pankration rules, only my second time ever competing in that ruleset. After securing the win in the Finals match, I earned the opportunity to represent my Brigade in a full MMA bout against the winner from the previous invitational.
Thank you to everyone that took part in organizing the event, the refs, competitors and everyone that showed up to support the event.
I am also grateful for all the training partners, coaches, and teammates who continue to push me to improve. Looking forward to the next challenge. π₯

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of being Coach of the Day. We had 26 people on the mats, all working to improve their judo.
We focused on power repetitions, lifting and controlling the opponent, and holding the position before finishing the throw.
The reason for this focus is that many athletes rush to complete the technique before they've established control. By emphasizing the lift, balance disruption, and moment of control, athletes develop better timing, stronger mechanics, and more confidence in their throws. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Always grateful for the opportunity to give back to the club and help others improve their judo. π₯
Thank you for the opportunity and the mentorship from Sensei and all the coaches at JUDO at MSHQ
If y'all decide this is a guard pull, I'll delete the video, don't need evidence out there. π€£
I competed in the second Fort Hood Combatives Tournament and this time I committed to making weight. After bulking up to 222 lbs, I cut down to 205 lbs to qualify for the Light Heavyweight division.
The hard work paid off, I managed to win the entire division and hit some of my favorite throws along the way. π₯πͺ
Stay tuned for the highlights. There are plenty of sweet throws coming your way! π₯
Not very common to see in BJJ tournaments.
This was my first Kata Guruma in tournamentπ₯

Seminar with Heath Pedigo and the Daisy Fresh gang. The level of talent on the mats during the two day seminar was incredible.

Only two competitors but got 4 great matches in the Submission Challenge Marietta. Unfortunately didn't go my way in my weightclass losing 2 out of 3 with the same damn leg lock but found the holes in my game thatbI need to work on. Absolute got a super fun match that went to overtime where I managed to get an armbar. On to the next ones!
