We had a great time at our Teacher Cafe last week, hosted at the Center for Child Well-Being. If you're an ECPBS Teacher, it's not too late to sign up for weeks two and three of our Teacher Cafe series! Check with your coach if you need help registering!! We end each Cafe with a one-word closing, and these are the words teachers used to describe our cafe last Tuesday!

Prone swinging, where a child lays on their stomach to swing, is against the rules at many schools, but can be extremely beneficial to their development.
Physical and Motor Development
Swinging on their stomach requires children to use their core muscles, as well as muscles in the back and neck. This strengthens their core, and can improve posture.
Sensory Processing and Regulation
The consistent, rhythmic, linear movement of swinging provides vestibular input. This can help calm the nervous system and help children get focused and grounded.
Feeling their weight against the swing gives proprioceptive input, which enhances body awareness and control.
Activities that provide proprioceptive and vestibular input can help support impulse control and reduce unsafe sensory seeking behaviors.
