Today was Indigenous People’s Day AND Columbus Day here in the US but did you know that it’s also International Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity?

Yep! Let’s take a moment to learn more about the different cultures in our world! Here at Marnie LEADS Academy, our focus is on the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic’s culture is a blend of European, African, and Taíno influences! You can find those elements in its food, family structure, religion, and music! We’ll be exploring more about that in the coming months to prepare for our trip there! 🥳

Our first day of school at Marnie LEADS Academy is August 12th and we are looking forward to a successful school year!! As a Christian program, it is important to make sure our students have a relationship with God, the creator of the heavens and earth, and Jesus Christ, His only son. When I saw post, I HAD to share. Here at Marnie LEADS Academy, we make learning fun!

The “Musical Word Walk” is a vocabulary game that demonstrates several types of learning:

1. Kinesthetic Learning: Children are moving around the room, engaging their bodies in the learning process.

2. Auditory Learning: Children listen to the music and the instructions, which helps them process information through hearing.

3. Visual Learning: Children see the word flashcards and the actions of others, which aids in visual recognition and memory.

4. Social Learning: Children interact with their peers, which can enhance their social and communication skills.

5. Tactile Learning: Handling the word cards provides a tactile element, which can help reinforce learning through touch.

By combining these different learning styles, the game supports a holistic approach to literacy development.
