These two trays came out of the same month of apprenticeship. Same project. Same maker (hi π). But wildly different personalities.
The skill we tackled this month? Steaming and bending wood. And honestly β it changes everything about what's possible.
Left: single-species walnut. Dark, moody, classic.
Right: a multi-species mix. Bold, colorful, full of personality.
Which one speaks to you? Drop your vote below β¬οΈ
And if you've ever wanted to learn a technique like this β link in bio to join the next apprenticeship cohort. We'll throw you in the deep end. But we'll also throw you a life vest. πͺ΅

Most of our woodworking apprenticeship classes start in the shop.
This month, they started in the woods.
Before anyone picked up a carving tool, we headed out for our first apprenticeship field trip. After learning chainsaw safety, wood selection, and traditional splitting techniques, each apprentice harvested and prepared their own bowl blank.
Over the next few weeks, these rough chunks of green wood will become hand-carved bowls.
The apprenticeship program is about more than woodworking. It's about understanding the entire processβfrom the standing tree to the finished piece in your hands.
That's an experience you don't get from a kit, a YouTube video, or a weekend class.
Stay tuned to watch these bowls take shape.
