Congratulations to Noah Sheridan, HESA c/o 2024, who has been selected as HESA Student of the Year by the faculty!

HESA Student of the Year is based on academic performance and effort in coursework, including overall GPA. We also consider contributions to the field of higher education and student affairs (i.e. presentation at conference) and/or application of course material to the field (i.e. internship or practicum).

Despite growing up the son of a special education teacher, Jamil D. Johnson did not set his sights on being a teacher himself until he was well into his undergraduate education as a history major at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Welcome home Molly Peirano (HESA c/o 2015)! The HESA program is excited for you to come home and lead the new Office of Civil Rights and Title IX!

Following a national search, Molly Peirano, a University of South Carolina alumna who recently led Title IX engagement and education efforts at Ohio State University, will assume the newly created position of Assistant Vice President for Civil Rights and Title IX at South Carolina.

his brings the past to the present with a discussion of paying college athletes. We’ll watch the documentary “Schooled: The Price of College Sports” and then have a discussion with Richard Southall, director of the College Sports Research Institute. See y'all there!
