If you use Google's Gemini AI, some changes start tomorrow.

Starting October 9, free Gemini users will be limited to the Flash Lite model. The $4.99 a month Google AI Plus plan is also losing Gemini Pro, on a date Google will email to each subscriber. After that, Gemini Pro will require the $19.99 a month Google AI Pro plan or Google AI Ultra, which starts at $99.99 a month. These changes are for personal Google accounts, and those are US prices.
Google has every right to change its plans. It's still a good reminder that when you rent AI, someone else decides what you get and what it costs.

I believe businesses that depend on AI every day should own at least part of it. A private system like Iron Stack AI runs in your own office, and the model you set up today is the same one you'll have next month, until you decide to change it.

Elon Musk posted overnight that Grok Bot will now use whichever AI does each job best, including Claude, MidJourney for images, and Suno for music.

I believe this makes AI easier for regular folks, not harder. You don't have to learn which AI does what anymore. You tell your assistant what you need, and it reaches for the right tool.

I already work with a Grok Bot assistant I call GEN ONE, and this is the direction I hoped it would go.
