Danielle Ketchum will be taking over as principal of Valley View Elementary starting in the 2026-2027 school year!
Ketchum began her career with Columbia Heights Public Schools in 2014 as a third-grade teacher at Valley View Elementary, where she had previously completed her student teaching from 2013-2014 while attending the University of Minnesota. She taught both third and fourth grade at Valley View through 2021 before transitioning into the role of Peer Coach. In addition to serving as Peer Coach, Ketchum has held several leadership positions, including ENCORE Site Facilitator at Valley View, Elementary and Secondary Summer ENCORE Principal, Administrator of the Kindergarten Nature-Based Summer Program, and Program Administrator for the CHPS English Learner Summer Reading Program and Summer Seminar.
“I’m excited to continue supporting our Valley View community,” stated Ketchum. “Having spent many years here building relationships, teaching, and growing as an educator and leader, this school holds a special place in my heart. Valley View is an amazing place where everyone works together to support student success. As principal, I look forward to partnering with students, staff, families, and community members as we continue to learn, grow, and achieve together!”
In her role as Valley View Elementary Principal, Ketchum will be responsible for meeting the diverse academic needs of over 500 students in PreK 4 through fifth grade. She will also lead, develop and support approximately 70 staff members.
“Danielle has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to Valley Elementary School. She is well known by staff, students, and families,” said Superintendent Stenvik. “She will bring continuity to the already amazing Valley View team. Among her many strengths are a keen eye for detail, being well-versed in elementary academic standards and data analysis.”
