This week’s Hylander Saturday Staff Spotlight is Jenny Linderholm, 1st Grade Teacher at Highland Elementary! This is Jenny’s third year as a Hylander. She has been a teacher for 14 years and has been educating Minnesota’s youngest learners since she began.

Some fun things to know about Jenny are that she grew up in St. Louis Park and attended Normandale Community College where she earned her Associate’s Degree, and then attended Metropolitan State University where she got her Bachelor’s Degree and Urban Teaching License. Jenny’s brother has four children who she loves to spend time with and they make her the proud aunt of two nieces and two nephews.

“What I love most about Columbia Heights Public Schools is the strong sense of community. It truly feels like a close-knit family where staff work together to support and care for students and their families. CHPS values community connections and creates an environment where everyone feels welcomed and supported. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a young child, and after 13 (starting 14) years in education, I still love what I do. I enjoy working in a district that genuinely values its students, staff, and community. Over the past few years at CHPS, I have built many meaningful relationships and have cherished getting to know my colleagues, students, and families. I look forward to continuing to strengthen those connections and growing alongside this wonderful community.” - Jenny Linderholm

This week’s Hylander Saturday Staff Spotlight is Nicole Geffre, our District-wide MARSS Manager. Nicole has been a Hylander for 13 years! A little breakdown of of what MARSS is: it stands for Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System, which tracks enrollment, assigns ID numbers, calculates funding and handles reporting.

Some fun things to know about Nicole are that she grew up in Stillwater went to the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Science in Geography. She now lives in White Bear Lake with her husband and their two kids Hazel and Zoey. Another fun fact is that Nicole’s sister, Kristen, works for CHPS in our Mini Adventures Program!

“It is easy to work hard and stay happy when you are in a supportive environment like we have here at Columbia Heights Public Schools. I love that every day is a little bit different and I am always learning something new!” - Nicole Geffre

Last week, CHPS had a great time welcoming our new Hylander staff members during our "Scaling the Heights" program run by our Teaching and Learning Department.

Our new staff members were able to take a bus tour of the community, check out their buildings and classrooms, spend time in Blooming Heights garden, listen to a staff and student panel, learn the school song, and meet up with their mentors!

We are so excited to welcome these new staff members to our Hylander Family! 💙💛

**CHHS Alumni, we need your help!**

As we prepare for the CHHS Centennial, we are looking for yearbooks, jerseys, photos, homecoming buttons, school publications, varsity letters and other Hylander memorabilia to display at the event.

We especially would love items from before the 1960s and as much orange and green 🧡💚memorabilia from before the 1945 school color change as we can find!

If you no longer want to store it, consider donating it. Not ready to part with it? You can loan it to us, and we will return it after the event. Forms and labels will be available at the District Office.

Take a look through your storage, and ask your parents or grandparents if they have anything from CHHS going all the way back to 1926!

Message us via Facebook or email [email protected] if you have something to share! 💙💛
