Start the school year strong - Come to the high school prepared!

Freshman/New Student Orientation is this Friday!

What is it?
- Orientation is a great way for students to learn about the high school before the first day of school, make connections, meet upperclassmen, learn the layout of the building and to get excited about being a part of the high school

When and where is it?
- Friday, August 21st from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
- At Columbia Heights High School

Who is it for?
- Open to all incoming freshmen (9th graders) and all new students to CHHS!
- Will be accessible for English and Spanish speakers!

What do you need to know?
- Students must RSVP in order for our team to plan to have enough food to serve lunch to all students in attendance (yes, you get food if you RSVP).

Columbia Heights High School's Open House for all 9th-12th graders will be on Thursday, August 27th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Students have a chance to walk around the school to check out their classes and chat with their first-semester teachers!

There will also be an orientation day for incoming 9th graders and new students on August 21st from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and an orientation night for new students and their parents on the 27th from 6:00-7:00 p.m., following CHHS's Open House.

The Hylander Boys Tennis Team finished their season on May 20th during the Individual 4AA Section Tournament at Como Park High School.

Some highlights from the season are that 14 people went out for tennis this year, and 7 players were brand new to tennis! The team won two big matches against their biggest rival (Fridley) and against Richfield. The team also had two super close matches against Bloomington Kennedy and St. Paul Johnson. The team captains were Tenzin Tsangyang, Abdi Chiboub and Jhonatan Penafiel Torres.

Tenzin Tsangyang and Liam Johnson were named Tri-Metro All-Conference Honorable Mention.

🎟️ TICKETS
β€’ Each graduate will receive 8 non-replaceable paper tickets with unique codes.
β€’ Each ticket can only be scanned once for entry. Copies will not work.
β€’ Lost tickets cannot be replaced.
β€’ If your family does not need all 8 tickets, we encourage you to consider sharing extras with classmates who may have additional family members hoping to attend.

πŸŽ“ DURING THE CEREMONY
β€’ No noisemakers, signs or balloons.
β€’ Remain seated during the ceremony so everyone can see.
β€’ Be respectful of those around you.
β€’ Professional photographers will ensure high-quality photos of every student.
β€’ Hold applause for a collective celebration. Be respectful of other graduates and their families.
β€’ Wait until the final name is called to cheer so that every family can hear their graduate's name.

β€’ There will be bag checks and security at entry
β€’ Limited-sized bags are permitted per stadium protocol.

Thank you to everyone who came and participated in our 12th Annual CHPS Powwow last weekend! Last Saturday, our CHPS Native American Parent Advisory Council and Native American Educator, Yolanda Dorr-Slowey, hosted our district’s annual powwow with a Jingle Dress special, the Artishon family Jingle Dress Special, tiny tots dances, a Men’s Traditional vs. Woodlands special, awards of academic achievement for our CHPS Native American students and an Eagle Feather ceremony for our CHHS 2026 Native graduates.

Thank you to our Host Drums Wicahpi Hoksila and Southern Boys, along with seven other guest drums, who led the powwow, our emcees, all of our vendors, our Head Dancers Aza Ochoa Jr. and Micah Lone Elk and all who participated in the powwow!
