Special Education and Functional Life Skills teacher, Mrs. Markins, came to speak to our Digital Media students about the developing "EAGLE Thread Co" project. She talked about the CCHS EAGLE room, their goals and current projects, and how their work is unique from other classrooms.

Seniors in the Digital Media class will collaborate with Markins and Running Around Screen Printing to hopefully create the first two shirt designs for EAGLE Thread Co.

On Friday, seniors in our Capstone course participated in the Hopes and Fears Protocol after reading the course entry document. After reflecting on their hopes and fears, they participated in a connections protocol where hopes and fears were read aloud anonymously; and, if students were feeling the same hope or fear, they took a step into the circle. The goal was for learners to recognize that they all share similar hopes and fears as they embark on their Capstone project.

Welcome, Mr. Stemmer! We are excited to have you join our team!

Help us welcome Matthew Stemmer, our new Columbia City High School Social Studies Teacher!

Matthew is originally from Byesville, Ohio, a small town in Southeast Ohio, and now lives in Bluffton, Indiana. He holds a Bachelor’s in Adolescent to Young Adult Education from Bowling Green State University and is currently working toward his Master’s in History from BGSU as well. At home, he enjoys life with his fiancée, Chelsea, and their pets.

He loves the Star Wars Thrawn series by Timothy Zahn and often dives into history books; especially those exploring the American frontier and the Crusades.

His advice for students this year is thoughtful and encouraging:
“Never be afraid to ask a question when it comes to mind! Very often what makes a question ‘bad’ is only timing.”

He enjoys Biscoff cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

We’re thrilled to have him at WCCS!
