🎶 Happy Music In Our Schools Month! 🎶

Tri-Valley had some great representation at the Canton Honor Band Festival today! These middle school band students had a fun day getting to work with Dr. Kessler from SDSU and playing with other enthusiastic student musicians from surrounding districts. The students put together a fantastic concert in just 5 hours of rehearsal!
Way to go, Mustangs!

Congratulations to senior trombone player Luke Strom for his performance this afternoon at the South Dakota State University Honor Band Festival! Luke was one of hundreds of auditionees selected for this festival, which is divided into two ensembles — the Honor Wind Ensemble and a Festival Band. Pictured below is the Festival Band, the ensemble Luke was selected to perform with!

This weekend was full of rehearsals, sectionals, and masterclasses, all led by outstanding guest conductors and clinicians. It’s always a packed few days of hard work, great music-making, and connecting with talented students from across the state.

This marks Luke’s final honor band festival after auditioning for and participating in several over the past four years. We’re so proud of his dedication, growth, and the leadership he’s shown throughout his high school career.

This weekend, 4 of our Mustangs took part in the 27th Annual Quad State Honor Band Festival hosted by the University of South Dakota!

This audition-based honor band brought together students from South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa. The students had the great opportunity to work with Dr. Bethany Amundson from USD and guest clinician Dr. Sharon Toulouse from the University of Kansas who most recently retired from serving in the Army as Commander of the 312th Army Reserve Band! After two days of rehearsing some fun and challenging music and a masterclass with the USD music faculty, they performed a finale concert in Aalfs Auditorium.

These Mustangs represented our music program with great pride! Congratulations!

Kadyn King is representing Tri-Valley at the Dakota Wesleyan University Honor Band this afternoon! He spent the day rehearsing with students from surrounding area schools and will perform a concert at 4:30PM. Way to go, Kadyn!

The Tri-Valley Theater department will present its One-Act Play, William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, on Monday, January 26th at 7pm in the PAC.

They will then perform in Batltic at the Region 3A competition on Tuesday, the 27th at 9am

The public is open to either of these performances at no charge!

Congrats to our very own Mason Harstad for his participation in the 68th Annual Augustana Honor Band Festival!

Mason was one of 200+ students from over 40 different schools participating in the festival. He spent the weekend rehearsing with these students and had the unique opportunity to work with, and perform music from, the festival’s guest composer and clinician, Erika Svanoe! The festival concluded with a finale concert in the Washington Pavilion.

Way to represent Tri-Valley!
