Congratulations to the CUSM MD Class of 2026!

CUSM recently hosted its annual Medical School Gala, an event organized each year by our wonderful Medical Student Council (MSC)!

The event gives students a chance to step away from the demands of medical school, celebrate their accomplishments, and connect with classmates across the MD program. This year’s masquerade ball–themed gala was held at the beautiful Edwards Mansion, where students enjoyed great food, caricature artists, tarot card readings, and a lively dance floor. It was a memorable evening filled with celebration, community, and a well-deserved opportunity for students to relax and enjoy time together.

CUSM recently celebrated its annual cookout in honor of Black History Month, bringing the community together for an afternoon of reflection, celebration, and connection. The event honored Black history and culture with guest speakers who delivered powerful and impactful spoken word performances. Attendees had the opportunity to celebrate, listen, and share in conversation while enjoying delicious food.

A special thank you went to the dedicated EIDP team for thoughtfully planning and organizing such a memorable and inspiring event.

Happy Lunar New Year from CUSM! 🧧🏮

This year, CUSM celebrated Lunar New Year by bringing our community together to honor the culture and traditions behind the holiday. Student speakers shared insights into the meaning of the new year across different cultures, highlighting themes of renewal, family, and hope.

The event also featured cultural activities and traditional foods symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. We’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community and learn from one another. Wishing everyone health, happiness, and success in the year ahead!

This milestone affirms our commitment to delivering exceptional medical education and advancing healthcare equity in the Inland Empire and beyond. With a 99% residency match rate and more than 70% of graduates serving in California, CUSM continues to prepare compassionate, skilled physicians for the communities that need them most.

CUSM was honored to participate in the first graduation ceremony of the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in Butaro, Rwanda. Since UGHE’s inception, CUSM has been a proud partner—collaborating on medical school curriculum, faculty development, and teaching students both in person and virtually.

We were especially proud to see Dr. Zohray Talib, CUSM executive vice dean of Education, recognized with a service award by the Dean, for her significant and ongoing contributions. Dr. Talib served as UGHE’s Founding Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine and now continues her service as a member of the UGHE Dean’s Advisory Council.

Congratulations to the 30 UGHE graduates! We celebrate this milestone and our enduring partnership in advancing global health accessibility and health equity.

Happy Holidays from CUSM! Staff, faculty, and families gathered together for a fun and festive holiday party to celebrate a wonderful year. Thank you to the entire CUSM employee team for all that you do for our students and the university!

At the CUSM, we have a strong commitment to community-engaged learning and the important role it has in training future physicians. Our medical students complete a course and program called CHANGE, Community Health Advocacy, Navigation, and enGagement Experience, in which students work with community partners to address health priorities and health disparities in the Inland Empire.

The program emphasizes mutually beneficial learning and engagement in alignment with CUSM’s mission to educate and increase physician providers in the region, as well as improve health access and outcomes.

This year, eight second-year medical students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the CHANGE program.

Dr. Gordon Green, MD, MEd, EdD, joined CUSM in 2018 as the Associate Dean of Medical Education and Clerkship Curriculum. His contributions to CUSM have been significant, and he is well regarded for his collaborative leadership style, teamwork, creativity, and openness to new ideas and innovations.

As he begins his next chapter, the CUSM community of students, faculty and staff gathered to express appreciation and thanks for Dr. Green's extensive contributions to the university. Thank you for all you have done, Dr. Green. We wish you the very best!
