EE leaders—what if your playground became your classroom this week? 🌿
Try this simple (but powerful!) activity:
🌊 “Paint the Playground” Literacy Lab
Give children paintbrushes + buckets of water and head outside.
Write letters, shapes, or even Scripture words in sidewalk chalk…
…and let children “paint” over them with water!
✨ Why it works:
• Reinforces letter recognition & early writing skills
• Engages sensory + motor development through movement and water play
• Turns a hot day into meaningful, joy-filled learning

Oklahoma recently passed Senate Bill 1778, a major early literacy law focused on strengthening reading outcomes.

Beginning in the 2027–2028 school year:
• Students who do not meet reading benchmarks may be retained in 3rd grade (with some exemptions)
• Schools must provide early interventions and targeted support in the primary grades
• Increased focus on family involvement and literacy coaching

Why it matters: Strong early literacy foundations are becoming an even greater priority—and early education programs play a critical role in preparing children long before third grade.
