Healing after violence is rarely a solo journey and it shouldn’t have to be.

The CARE Study supports LGBQ+ individuals who have recently experienced identity-based violence, alongside someone they trust.

Together, participants build practical skills, gain tools for understanding their own experiences, and contribute to research that will help others navigate similar paths.

Head to our website to learn more and see if you’re eligible to participate.

The Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic was created in 2014 specifically because the Pikes Peak region, home to one of the largest Veteran and active military communities in the country, needed trauma-specific care that truly understood what these individuals carry.

From military trauma to domestic violence, natural disaster and beyond, VHTC meets clients with specialized, evidence-based support.

If you or someone you know could benefit, learn more through the link in our bio.

Resilience isn’t a personality trait. It’s a process. 💛

It doesn’t mean you don’t struggle, it means you have access to the tools, support and inner resources to move through struggle and forward into something new.

That’s the work we’re committed to every day at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience.

Healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about uncovering what’s already strong. 🤍

Milestones Resilience Care was built on a simple but powerful idea: that recovery looks different for everyone, and care should meet people where they are.

Rather than treating individuals as sick, Milestones focuses on inner strength, purpose, connection, and physical well-being — all rooted in years of scientific research on trauma and resilience.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, stress, or burnout, Milestones is open to you. Learn more: https://milestones.uccs.edu

Trauma Training II: Advanced Topics goes deeper, exploring current trauma research, epigenetics, complex PTSD, interpersonal violence, disaster mental health, military and emergency responder trauma, and substance use. No need to complete Foundation I before enrolling.

Two powerful courses. One mission. Equipping people with the tools to better understand, support, and advocate for those impacted by trauma.

What does it really mean to understand trauma and why does it matter in stress-prone careers?

Nicole Weis, Director of Healing and Community Programs, shares more about the Trauma Training Program, an online course designed to build a foundational understanding of how stress and trauma impact the mind, body, and different populations.

Created for professionals, students, and anyone navigating high-stress environments, this program offers flexible, in-depth learning you can apply in both your work and your own life.

The people who show up for everyone else deserve support too.

Emergency responders, search and rescue teams, hospital workers, and trauma assistants carry a weight that most people never see. Over time that weight adds up, and it affects not just the individual but entire organizations. That is where First Priority Peer Support comes in.

This evidence informed resiliency program helps high stress organizations build a culture of support from the inside out. It normalizes stress reactions, reduces stigma, and unlike a one time debrief after a critical incident, it stays. Checking in days, weeks, and months later with individualized care whenever it is needed.

Exploring new ways to strengthen trauma recovery. 🤍

This study, led by Brooks Robinson at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience, is examining how a naturally occurring hormone, oxytocin, may enhance connection, learning, and outcomes within a trauma-focused group program for Veterans.

By combining evidence-based therapy, whole-person healing approaches, and strengths-based education, this work aims to better understand how we can build self-efficacy and support long-term resilience.

Resilience is not a trait — it’s a process. 💛

It’s built through reconnecting with your internal strengths and the support around you after life’s most difficult moments.

Over time, that process can create a meaningful shift, from being defined by what happened to understanding it as part of your story.

At the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience, this is the work we’re committed to every day.
