Owning a firearm and knowing how to shoot one are two completely different things.

Plenty of people buy a handgun, put it in a drawer, and never get real instruction — because the range feels intimidating and nobody wants to look like a beginner. We get it. That's exactly who the NRA Basic Pistol course is built for.

You can't control what's stored in every home your child visits. What you CAN control is what your child knows to do if they ever come across a firearm: stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult.

That's the whole heart of our Kids Firearm Safety Class. No scare tactics, no politics — just clear, age-appropriate instruction that turns curiosity into a safe, automatic response. Parents are welcome and encouraged to sit in.

Whether or not there's a firearm in your own home, this is one of those conversations that's better had early than never.
