We're moving! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1808688579965826
Why?
Enhanced Community Engagement: Facebook groups allow for more active participation from members. Rather than just being a space where people "like" or comment on posts, groups foster ongoing discussions, event coordination, and member-to-member interaction, which is great for building a community.
Better Control Over Content: In a group, members can post content, share experiences, and contribute to the conversation, whereas pages are more limited to content posted by the page owner. Moving to a group might be a way to empower your community to share their own artwork, experiences, or class updates.
Stronger Sense of Belonging: A group can create a more intimate and focused community around Bemis School of Art. It allows members to feel like they are part of something larger than just being a follower on a page. Groups can be more engaging and personal, with members connecting over shared interests.
Better Targeting for Events and Classes: Groups can help with better targeting for specific events, workshops, or classes. You can create polls, share files, and organize events in a way that feels more collaborative.
Improved Algorithm Visibility: Facebook groups tend to have better engagement visibility compared to pages due to Facebook’s algorithms favoring group posts in members' feeds. Moving to a group could increase the reach of your posts and encourage more interaction from the community.
Privacy and Interaction: Groups can also offer more privacy settings, making it easier to control who participates and ensuring that conversations are more private compared to a public page.

Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) Advancing Creatives Intensive (ACI) program will be offered in Manitou Springs in February for local artists, performers and creative entrepreneurs. Applications are due next Friday, January 17.
Launched in 2022, ACI is designed to be a launch pad for artists, performers, creative professionals and entrepreneurs who want to articulate and take practical steps to achieve their business goals. ACI is focused on tangible business growth and planning for artistic careers, as well as building business skills like marketing and financial management. The cohort-based approach incorporates peer learning, networking and accountability. Graduates can also apply for a small Career Advancement Grant to further invest in their business.
The next ACI cohort will be in Manitou Springs with a weekend-long program from February 21-23 (Friday night, all-day Saturday, Sunday morning) at the Manitou Arts Center
As I said, applications are due by Friday, January 17. Partial scholarships are available if folks reach out in advance of the deadline. They are also offering a virtual info session in partnership with COPPR and MAC on Monday, January 13.

Are you interested in learning about Clarence shivers and his art?
Let Clarence Shivers Art Influence Your Art?
You will explore the many artworks of Clarence Shivers an original Tuskegee Airman, with the sole purpose of creating your own art using acrylic paint. You will tour and evaluate Shivers’ art to gain inspiration. You will learn the history of Shivers, what he gained inspiration from, and how his work inspired others. You will use this inspiration to paint a master study of his work. During the second half of this course, you will explore Shiver’s abstract paintings and dive into what made him explore this style. You will use the information gathered to create your own abstract painting. This will be accomplished by recreating a master study of Shiver’s work, or by painting something completely new and original. At the end of this class, you will have learned the history of Clarence Shivers, but also how to use that inspiration to create your own unique works of art. Gallery visit on Saturday, 4/6 at 10 a.m.
