St. Mary's High School - Colorado Springs

With hearts full of gratitude, the St. Mary’s High School community came together for a beautiful and deeply meaningful moment of faith as we consecrated our campus to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

We are especially grateful to every student, family, faculty member, staff member, and friend who joined us in prayerfully burying Miraculous Medals throughout our campus—an outward sign of our desire to place St. Mary’s, our students, and our mission under the loving intercession of Our Blessed Mother.

These medals carry an extraordinary story of faith. Through the generosity of Steve and Ileana Garcia and family, they were blessed by Pope Leo at the Vatican, before making their way home to St. Mary’s. We are profoundly grateful to the Garcia Family for this beautiful gift to our school community.

Now, beneath the grounds where our students learn, pray, compete, grow, and encounter Christ, these medals remain as a quiet reminder of the prayers surrounding our school and the faith upon which St. Mary’s has been built.

For more than 140 years, we have proudly carried Mary’s name. May we continue to follow her example by courageously saying “yes” to God, trusting in His will, and allowing her to lead us always closer to her Son.

Congratulations to St. Mary’s High School Competitive Shooting Team member Alex Resnik on earning the Runner-Up Trophy in Handicap at the May Shootout hosted at Pikes Peak Gun Club!

Alex’s hard work, focus, and dedication were on full display throughout the competition. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and the way he continues to represent St. Mary’s with excellence both on and off the range.

Students will explore engineering, aviation, sports science, aerospace, and technology through real-world experiences designed to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders.

Sr. Monica Wheeler, FMA, is a member of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (Salesian Sisters) who recently celebrated her Perpetual Profession on August 5, 2024. A native of Southeastern, Kentucky, she was raised in a large, devout family where faith and the arts were central, eventually leading both her and her brother to pursue vocations in the Church. After pursuing both music and art professionally Sr. Monica felt called to a radical life of discipleship and service, a journey that led her to join the Salesian Sisters in 2015 following her time as a VIDES missionary volunteer. Throughout her religious life, she has served as a music and religion teacher, a coordinator of religious activities in Texas and California schools, and an assistant to young women in formation to become sisters. With a degree in education and a deep passion for her Catholic faith and the Salesian charism, Sr. Monica demonstrates a deep commitment to the spiritual accompaniment of young people and the joyful witness of community life in the footsteps of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello.
