Is your child struggling with reading, writing, or spelling, and making limited progress even with extra help?
When a child continues to fall behind, it can be puzzling for both parents and educators. Often, it simply means the child has a unique learning style that requires a more tailored approach than standard interventions provide.
You can untangle that web with a comprehensive educational evaluation conducted by a licensed psychologist. An evaluation looks beyond the surface symptoms to understand exactly how your child's brain processes information, pinpointing their specific strengths and vulnerabilities.
Thrive Psychological Solutions specializes in these evaluations. Our team provides the clarity you need by identifying key points of need and offering a precise roadmap. This deeper understanding allows parents and schools to collaborate effectively, ensuring your child receives the exact targeted support they need to thrive.
Contact Thrive Psychological Solutions today to learn how we can help clarify your child's learning profile.

Evaluate in the summer?
If your child needs a neuropsychological evaluation, booking it during the summer is highly beneficial.
First, it eliminates school disruption. Your child won't have to miss classes, tests, or extracurricular activities for testing appointments.
Second, kids are more relaxed. Without the pressure of homework and school routines, well-rested children provide clinicians with a more accurate picture of their true potential.
Most importantly, it ensures support is ready on day one. Because the evaluation and reporting process takes time, completing it now means you will have recommendations and accommodations ready before the first day of school, rather than waiting until mid-semester.
Avoid the fall rush. Set your child up for a strong school year.

Why Play is the "Developmental Nutrition" Your Child Needs
We often think of nutrition in terms of what is on a child's plate, but spontaneous play is just as essential for a developing brain. Experts increasingly view self-directed play not as a luxury or a break from learning, but as the primary "nutrient" required for healthy cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
The Recommended Daily Allowance of Play:
Just as nutritional needs change with age, so do the requirements for physical and imaginative activity.
*Children ages 2 to 5 years: Require 3 to 4 hours of spontaneous play daily.
*Children ages 5 years and older: Require at least 1 to 2 hours of spontaneous play daily.
The Power of Autonomy:
The most "nutrient-dense" play is not directed by adults. While adults can certainly participate and engage in the fun, the child must remain the architect of the experience. For play to be truly developmental, children need the freedom to:
*Initiate their own ideas rather than following a script.
*Practice autonomy by making their own choices and rules.
*Navigate social dynamics and problem-solve in real-time.
When we step back and allow children to lead, we provide them with the space to build resilience, creativity, and executive function. Today, prioritize giving your child the time and space to simply play.

Why the Whole Picture Matters in Brain Health
Ever feel like you’re looking at a single puzzle piece and trying to guess the entire image? That’s what happens when we focus on only one area of concern during an evaluation. True clarity comes from looking at the intersection of memory, emotion, attention, and executive function. When we ignore one area, we risk missing the root cause of the struggle.
Online Checklists vs. Clinical Evaluations
It’s tempting to take a 5-minute quiz online, but there is a world of difference between a screener and a professional diagnosis.
The Bottom Line: A checklist identifies a smoke signal, but a Clinical Psychologist finds the fire. Don't settle for a snapshot when you can have the full map.

Is it Autism? Looking Beyond the Stereotypes
Autism does not look the same for every child. While the traditional signs are often based on how it presents in boys, many children—especially girls—frequently mask their struggles. They may mimic social cues and appear to blend in, while internally feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the effort of navigating their world.
Because these signs can be subtle, many children are overlooked or misdiagnosed for years.
Get Clarity with an Expert
If you feel like your child is working twice as hard as their peers just to get through the day, professional answers are essential. A Neuropsychological Evaluation with a trained clinician is the best way to:
* Look past the mask to understand how your child’s brain actually processes information.
* Receive an accurate diagnosis that accounts for diverse gender presentations.
* Create a personalized roadmap for the right school supports and home strategies.
Stop wondering and start understanding. Seeking a professional evaluation is the first step toward getting your child the validation and support they deserve.

Don't let "out-of-network" stop you from seeing the provider you truly want!
Many people assume they're stuck with a specific list of clinicians, but you might have more flexibility than you think. If you’ve found the perfect fit and they don't take your insurance, here is a pro-tip: Ask about a Superbill.
How it works:
1. Pay Upfront: You pay your provider their standard fee at the time of service.
2. Get the Doc: Your provider gives you a Superbill (a detailed receipt with specific medical codes).
3. Get Reimbursed: You submit that Superbill to your insurance company. Depending on your plan’s "out-of-network" benefits, they may mail you a check for a significant portion of the cost!
Action Step: Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask: “Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient services, and what is my reimbursement rate for a Superbill? Can I apply my out of pocket costs to my out of pocket total?”
Call us today - we can send you the codes commonly utilized for a Neuropsychological Evaluation. We remove the guess work!

Tired of the "Wait and See" Game?
When your child is struggling with focus, learning, or unexplained cognitive challenges, answers can’t wait. The biggest hurdle to getting a Neuropsychological Evaluation is often the insurance-mandated waiting list. Most in-network clinics are booked 6–12 months out, leaving families in a state of limbo.
Here is why choosing an out-of-network provider is a strategic investment in your child’s health and your peace of mind:
1. Speed to Clarity
Skip the half-year wait. Out-of-network providers typically offer significantly shorter wait times, meaning you can move from "searching for answers" to "implementing a plan" in a fraction of the time.
2. A Comprehensive Deep-Dive
Insurance-led evaluations are often restricted by what a policy covers, not what a patient needs. Out-of-network care allows for:
More Testing Hours: A truly exhaustive look at memory, executive function, and emotional health.
Personalized Batches: Tests selected specifically for your unique profile, not a "standardized" insurance template.
3. The "Whole Person" Result
You aren't just a diagnosis code. Out-of-network evaluations typically include longer feedback sessions and highly detailed, "roadmap" style reports that schools and doctors can actually use to help you succeed.
The bottom line: You’re paying for expertise, undivided attention, and—most importantly—time. Don't let a processing delay hold back your progress. Let's get the answers you deserve, now.

ADHD isn’t a lack of attention—it’s a lack of regulation.
The common myth is that people with ADHD can't focus. In reality, they often pay attention to everything all at once. It’s like having a Ferrari engine for a brain with bicycle brakes. The struggle isn't the engine (intelligence); it's the braking system (regulation).
Why accuracy matters:
Many diagnoses share overlapping symptoms. At Thrive, we look beyond the surface to find the root cause of behavior. An accurate diagnosis is the only way to ensure interventions actually work.
Let us help you build a world that works with your child's unique wiring.

Anxiety can look a lot of different ways- and it’s a very common experience for Autistic people. It’s often one of the first things noticed in Autistic people- especially non-stereotypical presentations and girls!
This was true for my son. Early on, it looked like perfection at school (I legit thought his teachers were lying to me), and high caution (not a risk taker AT ALL). By about 4 years, he would choose to sit out for games, talking in front of others, and large group or new (to him) activities. And now at 10, it’s a mix of these, but mostly well managed and supported.
