This self-portrait workshop is designed to help kids celebrate who they are and head into the school year feeling confident and creative!

Artists will create a colorful mixed-media self portrait (slightly different than the examples shown here, this was from a different lesson I taught) and design a confidence crown filled with encouraging words and joyful self-expression.

My Tuesday AM students finished their layered abstract paintings before spring break, and they are too beautiful not to share. 😍 🎨

Artists chose analogous paint palettes to scrape on, then then used various tools like paint combs and recycled objects to print textures onto their canvases.

On our third week we added final details with chalk pens, oil pastels, and metallic paint markers. Very entertaining to study each painting and find the hidden details! 👀
