We are excited to announce two book signing events for a member of our Cottonwood Writers’ Studio community! MOST CONGRATULATIONS to Ian Patterson for the August 25th release of “Fruits of Our Labor.” Ian is the winner of the Colorado Humanities 2025 Colorado Book Award in the category of Science Fiction/Fantasy.

BOOK SIGNING | FIRST FRIDAY | SEPTEMBER 4 | 5 PM TO 8 PM
Ian will have a book signing table during the First Friday opening reception of STRONGER TOGETHER. View the new exhibition, grab a drink at the bar, buy a book!

BOOK RELEASE | SATURDAY | SEPTEMBER 5 | 6 PM | FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This event will feature selected readings from the author, an interview from Executive Director Jon Khoury followed by a question and answer session. Books will be available for purchase.

Fruits of Our Labor by Ian Patterson

A new world is emerging, one parthenogenetic birth at a time. It’s 2049 and American women have legally recognized human asexual reproduction. Samara yearns for freedom from her dying relationship, and a child of her own—fully her own. Yet as parthenogenetic birth takes hold and the role of men in the survival of the species wanes, protest and outcry sweep across the nation.

This Friday is FIRST FRIDAY! Join us from 5-8 PM to celebrate the opening of STRONGER TOGETHER featuring: 21 incredible local artists, 34 amazing local organizations, 1 beautiful collection.
Cottonwood Center for the Arts in partnership with the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region
(COPPR) is thrilled to present this juried exhibition for the month of September. STRONGER TOGETHER features artworks created in response to an open call to the public celebrating the 20th anniversary of COPPR, underwritten by Herman Tiemens.
This project was designed to foster a deeper connection between local creative organizations and local creatives, to benefit our community at large. As inspiration for this call, COPPR and Herman Tiemens selected a diverse spectrum of creative brands from our community as subject matter. We asked artists to create artworks honoring the ethos and unique character of their chosen organization(s), highlighting their vital role in our region’s cultural identity.
Entries of all mediums and styles were accepted.
