There’s nothing that seems to undo me spiritually more than social media. I could rant, but let’s chat more about it in person over coffee ☕️For this Lenten season, I’ll be taking a much needed break.

Circa 2016 (since everyone else is doing it 😏). Beginning of the final season in my competitive climbing career. 10 years later and I have no regrets. So satisfied in my efforts, my training, the places I got to explore, people I got to meet, and the character I developed along the way. That sticks with you much longer than any worldwide ranking.
📊 How to get the most accurate body scan (InBody/ Evolt, etc):
DO
✅ Scan BEFORE your workout – exercise shifts fluids + glycogen, skewing results
✅ Wait at least 1–2 hours after eating 🍽️ – digestion alters impedance readings
✅ Be normally hydrated 💧 – dehydration can falsely raise body fat %
✅ Use the restroom first 🚽 – obvious reasons
✅ Scan at the same time of day ⏰ – consistency = accuracy
✅ Look at trends, not one scan 📈
DON’T
🚫 Don’t scan post-workout- sweat & hydration are off
🚫 Don’t scan right after eating
🚫 Don’t scan after alcohol or major caffeine consumption🍷☕️
🚫 Don’t overreact to small changes – daily fluctuation is normal (I recommend a once/month body scan with more frequent regular weigh ins).
BOTTOM LINE: Body scans estimate trends, not truths. Use them as data points, not a measure of worth or success!

What’s your word of the year?
🌺 I was inspired by the word “Unhurried”after finishing the book Garden City recently (his “Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” book is also a fav). To me, Unhurried is about giving your full attention to your body, the people in front of you, the mundane moments of the day—without rushing ahead or dragging the past behind. I used to consider myself a patient person until I had kids; now I realize just how shallow my patience well can be.
🌺 I was convicted by a quote from Henri Nouwen that said “The word patience means to stay where we are and live the situation out to the full in the belief that something hidden there will manifest itself to us. Impatient people are always expecting the real thing to happen somewhere else and therefore want to go elsewhere.” …. Ouch.
🌺 An unhurried lifestyle is a big ask for a type A person like me. Looking forward to how this unfolds and challenges me in 2026. Lots more phone free time for sure.

I came across a journal entry I made last December and it has me in all the feels 🦋
“After a year of pain and physical and mental struggles, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m putting my hope in the fresh start of a new year. I don’t know yet if you’re bringing me out of the valley, but I trust you and am praying so even still…
I want to bring my hopes and dreams and goals before you for next year. I need your discernment, your encouragement, your coaching. I’m pondering between:
1. Give everything I have to Spray, or
2. Train for the competitive Spartan heat and see what happens
If I pursue these, I would really need your favor and blessing. For the logistics, for the relationships, for my body and mind….
And I’m trying to make space for the fact that maybe neither of these are in the cards for 2025. Guide me in the way of peace.”
✨Never in my wildest dreams did I think BOTH of these dreams would realize. God is so good, and generous, and so personal with his love. He didn’t dismiss my desires as “unspiritual” or selfish. He made me a huntress (btw my name literally means Hunt in the Woods).
✨I felt so much of his blessing and favor on all the training this year. I’m so grateful and honestly shocked at how it all came together. (I didn’t send Spray but sure am satisfied with the climbing fitness and progress that happened).
✨I’m feeling a shift for this year. From hustle to unhurried. Not sure what all that looks like, but I know when I align my desires with His, it’s going to be glorious. (Also, if you’re still reading this long post, thank you 🙏🏼)

🦋 There was no “rock bottom” for me. A podcast episode I hosted with .full.time.blond finally convinced me I couldn’t ignore the science anymore: alcohol is poison (Audacious Health Podcast link in bio).
🦋 But this meant leaning into the hard feelings rather than running away. I went back to therapy and restarted the healthier coping habits. Yet I also had the biggest training year since my USA Climbing retirement- I made major progress on the hardest outdoor rock climb of my career (5.13+), then I switched gears completely and competed with the OCR pros in the Spartan World Championships in Croatia. My immune system had the best year since having children, and my training recovery and sleep supported everything.
Thankful for everyone that has supported me on the way 💜 If you’re considering a 2026 goal, consider giving yourself this invaluable gift!
