Calling all artists! The Kraemer Family Library and the MOSAIC and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center are partnering to create Club Q Memorial Art pieces on campus. It will be displayed as a sibling exhibit where one is located in the library and the other will be located across from MOSAIC.

We are looking for artists that have a profound, deep understanding of the local Colorado LGBTQ+ community and the impact of such tragedy that occurred at Club Q. Artists should also have some connection to UCCS, please note that this is not limited to current student status (eg. alumni, family of alumni, prior relationships with campus, etc.).

MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center and Kraemer Family Library are collaborating in the search for an artistic memorial to place on the UCCS campus.

This award-winning documentary follows Crystal, a 10-year-old transgender girl growing up in rural Canada, as she navigates the difficult and complicated world that surrounds her. Tormented at school by teachers and peers alike, she faces daily assaults in the form of insults and physical altercations. The pain she endures at school takes a toll on not only her self-esteem, but also on the emotional stability of her family. After being denied the right to join local athletics teams due to her gender, Crystal and her mom serendipitously discover the Vagine Regime, an international q***r collective of roller derby players comprised of people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and identities. The Vagine Regime not only accepts Crystal, but actively supports her journey.

Winner of Best Documentary at FilmOut San Diego and Best New Mavericks Feature at the Atlanta Film Festival.

This event is centered on creating a dialogue space for those that identify as transgender, non-binary, two-spirit and those that identify different than the s*x assigned at birth. Held in the reflection room in the Kraemer Family Library, this dialogue circle provides an opportunity for participants to engage with one another and build community, but also to voice any issues, concerns, or stresses relating to Trans Day of Remembrance and Resilience. By inviting others in, this begins the steps towards transformational healing. The event will be facilitated by Irina (they/them), Co-President of the QTPOC and Two-Spirit club with the support of Rafael Norwood (he/él), LGBTQ+ Coordinator, from the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
