Literacy opens doors. When students read confidently and proficiently, they are better prepared to understand new ideas, engage across every subject, and approach their futures with confidence.
We’re proud to celebrate Audubon Blackhawks D11, Bristol Elementary School, and Stratton ElementaryD11 for being named Bright Spots by The 74 !
This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, educators, school leaders, families, and community partners. It also reinforces a commitment shared throughout District 11: ensuring every student develops the strong reading foundation needed to thrive in school and beyond.
Congratulations to the Audubon, Bristol, and Stratton! Your work demonstrates what is possible when we come together around one essential goal: helping every student succeed.
We see your hard work—and this is a bright spot worth celebrating!

A Safe School Starts at the Front Door
Everyone has a role in keeping D11 students, staff, and guests safe. All visitors and volunteers must check in each time they enter a school.
Visitor Aware, our also helps account for everyone in the building in the event of an emergency.
Who Is Considered a Visitor?
Visitors may include parents, guest speakers, representatives from outside organizations, or D11 employees visiting a building where they do not normally work.
All visitors and volunteers must:
• Check in at the front office.
• Present a valid photo ID for verification. You may not enter the building without identification.
• Receive and wear a printed badge at all times while inside the building.
• Check out before leaving the school.
Do You Want to Volunteer?
Volunteer registration must be completed before volunteering at a D11 school. Checking in when you arrive and checking out when you leave is how we accurately track and record your volunteer hours.

Already Approved as a D11 Parent, Visitor, or Volunteer?
When you arrive, sign in using the Visitor Aware iPad kiosk located in the school vestibule or ask the front office staff to check you in.
For faster check-in during future visits, ask your school’s front office staff to send you your personal Visitor Aware QR code.
Staff, parents, visitors, and volunteers - Let’s follow the process, be role models for others, and do our part to protect our school community.
