From its beginnings as the Solar Trails Center in 1976—the first nature center in Colorado—to becoming Bear Creek Nature Center in 1980, this place has continued to grow and serve the community. After rebuilding from an arson fire in 2002, the Nature Center expanded its impact with regional-first accessibility programs, including Trailability in 2022 and the V.I.P. Trail in 2023.

In 2026, Bear Creek Nature Center celebrates 50 years with a community Bear-thday party on August 22. Join us as we honor the past and celebrate what’s still to come.
